While out-of-town on business, I was recently swimming in a hotel pool. I began speaking with another guest who informed me that he just had to get out and eat quickly so as to return to his room. He confided that he was reading the most incredibly engrossing book. It was hard to put down. You guessed it, this man is captivated by The Secret.

This man explained he is a football player in his spare time and a tool salesman as a main job. He rations his reading of this book to only a few pages per day. Then, he meditates on the ideas as a kind of quiet contemplation. He feels the ideas are mostly “common sense” that he had overlooked or not noticed previously in his life.

Curiously, he went about reading it even when his son and other people warned him of the cult-like following behind it. He chose to read it and apply it to his own life, patterns, how he has raised his children and how he treats himself. In looking at this stranger, I noticed his eyes twinkled. He admits the book transformed how he sees the world and how he thinks. He likes how it has empowered him to see anew.

Ask yourself how your life has changed or remained the same as the result of reading Rhonda Byrne’s book, watching the DVD or, hearing about it in other ways. Why would you recommend it to other people or not? Has it transformed you in any way?
