A man approached me with a story. He expressed frustration about failing to hold a winning bid for an engagement ring from on-line auctions. He thought he had found the pefect ring on one site, but after bidding, forgot to check in on final bids before the item was sold. He lost out. Then, he discovered another site which seemed like it would empower him to realize his dreams of buying that special ring for his girlfriend.

Before long however, this man sensed a jeweler might be bidding on the most desirable rings. The same buyer appeared to be bidding high and getting most of them. The man seeking to find a ring for his future spouse became rather dismayed and discouraged. He told me he sensed maybe forces were against him? He had after all, placed considerable hopes on finding an affordable diamond ring through these on-line auctions.

I invited the frustrated man to rethink the scenario. The Secret reminds us to direct energy toward desirable situations rather than focus on negative energy. For example, I asked this person to consider the possibility that he didn’t get one of the rings he thought he wanted because Higher Forces had already arranged for him to get the ring that was most suitable for him. I asked him to consider the idea that maybe he hadn’t yet seen what was really meant for him. I invited him to be grateful he hadn’t gotten a ring he thought he wanted. Won’t it be wonderful to get what was meant for him?

This man began to realize that he had been limiting himself to his view of what was most appropriate and affordable. He also took note that he became increasingly stressed as bidding came down to the wire. He let himself get worried that he wouldn’t be able to afford the ring he liked if the price rose, which it proceeded to do. From time-to-time, he would give up, temporarily losing faith in himself.

Yet, deep down, this man confided he thought he would succeed in obtaining the ring that was perfect for him to buy. An underlying faith he had in himself motivated him not to give up. By exerting effort, intending the universe to cooperate, and hoping for Higher Forced to help, he believed he would achieve more positive results. He worked harder to redirect energy from negative thoughts. That energy is better used elsewhere.
