Who’s to say we haven’t emerged in our lives to become accepting of what we are? The Secret assumes that something must be missing and its up to us to figure out what. Some readers of this book find that opinion rather presumptuous. Hence, an apparent controversy emerges. What are you willing to do about that?
Maybe you think there’s something wrong with you. Why not just focus on doing the things you love? If you did what you liked, you wouldn’t likely be focused on negativity. You wouldn’t make time to focus on things that cause you to feel bad.
One crucial realization you can make in a quest for personal growth is that no recipe you outline in advance will lead you to a path to personal success. Life experience is a teacher. Do we learn? Goals and priorities shape us or, rather, is it really the other way around? Consider the slant of your perception and what conditioned that.
Attitudes enable us to choose to feel good about ourselves. We have different natural strengths and weaknesses that are a part of our intrinsic personality. How then, as individuals, can we feel successful if we’re always being compared or comparing ourselves to other people? Whose attitude is making our decisions?
The key is to step back and see yourself as separate from other people. You need to determine what you really need and don’t need and develop abilities to attract it. This will come to you as you become more aware that the right ideas come at the right time. It doesn’t matter how. The Universe has a way of presenting situations to you that can trigger your awakening. You simply need to open up to the process.
