The second criticism of the secret is that the writers shouldn’t make any money from it.
I can see where these people are coming from, as their real question is:
You are making money from teaching LoA and not from using LoA in the real world. How do we know it actually works except to attract you money?
This is true, except that almost all the Secret teachers didn’t get paid for their part in the movie. What they do get paid for is spending time with people and training them. It’s like an athlete telling her coach that he shouldn’t charge her because he is only teaching her how to run, and not running himself.
I don’t know the history of all the teachers, but those I do know all had, and many still have, successful businesses and careers before they became teachers, and they became teachers not to capitalise on other’s gullibility but to share what they had learned with people.
I know this because it is the same situation I am in. I started to my personal development when I was 15, and my life was seemingly terrible. I kept reading and growing, and once I started working I quickly outpaced everyone around me in every job I did. By the end of ten years in my previous career, the people I went to university with were earning $30 - 40,000 a year and I was earning close to $300,000. Almost 10 times their income, and we were doing the same job. I attribute all my success directly to the PD material I studied and applied.
I had free time, good health, money and lots of ’stuff’. But no one else did. All my friends were busy, miserable, sick and broke. So as a result I became a coach, to share what I have learned and help others reach the high levels of success that I know are possible for anyone.
But to do that takes time, and is it wrong to charge for the time I spend helping you make the life of your dreams, instead of spending it making my own dreams? That is what people are saying. You shouldn’t charge people for spending your time to help them…
No one has a problem with tobacco and alcohol companies charging people to poison them. But suddenly they have a problem with people charging to help them.
I fail to see any reason why they should be forced to give their own time to others for nothing.
